About Katie

Hi, I'm Katie! Welcome to my blog, where I ramble about anything and everything. I'm 20 years old, a junior at Boston College and am pursuing a major in International Studies and a minor in French. I'm currently studying abroad at Sciences Po in Paris. I plan on keeping this experience well-documented by blogging every single day, even if my entries consist of only a few new words I learned, or a new picture I took. I love photography, traveling, reading, and cooking. I love all kinds of music; check out what I'm listening to at last.fm. Check out some more random facts about me, if you're so inclined...

    Rain? What a surprise.

    Barrel MonsterGee, I woke up this morning and was astonished to see that it was raining.  I mean, it hasn’t rained 13/14 days the past two weeks.  It’s probably a good thing, because I wouldn’t know what to do if I saw that big, yellow thing…I think it’s called the sun?

    Still jobless, but I went for an interview at Comfort Suites over on 17.  My dad met the general manager at a networking thing and was talking about me, and he casually mentioned that I was looking for a job.  Fabulous, eh?  So keep an eye or an ear out, I might be dirty Jersey’s number one hotel receptionist (haha title thanks to Victoria).  The pay is kinda shitty, but at least it’s something.  I’d still rather babysit, or tutor, or do anything that isn’t taxed (so if you know anyone…LEMME KNOW).

    Anyways, I was stumbling around the web and came across the barrel monster.  I have to say, I was pretty damn impressed; I’ve never seen such a beautiful piece of vandalism/artwork, and I’m not joking when I say I kind of want one of my own.  I would put it right next to Ashley’s Zac Efron, I think they’d be the best of buddies.

    Courtesy of Netflix, I have also started watching some EXCELLENT television shows: 30 Rock and Weeds.  Tina Fey is great, and I find myself grinning throughout the entire show.  Which means I just grinned for 3.85 hours straight, since I just watched more than half of season 2.  And is it weird that I kind of have a crush on Jack Donaghy?  He’s not really attractive, and his voice is kind of bizarre, but I love his personality because he’s just so ridiculous.  Yeah, I know, I’m crazy.  And I watched the first season of Weeds yesterday, and I loved that too.  I love Jeffrey Morgan, the guy who played Judah in the first few episodes.  Crazy coincidence that he played the dead boyfriend/husband in PS I Love You, too…what is it about that guy that makes him such an excellent lost loved one?  Anyways, I’m gonna watch some more 30 Rock.  My face is going to hurt tomorrow.

    Cafénation = love.

    Sooo, new obsession: Caf?nation. It’s an adorable little coffee shop/creperie in Brighton. It’s a 21 minute walk from my dorm to the door of this little niche. I ordered and iced coffee and a tuna melt on a crepe…and both were excellent. Definitely work the trek to get here.

    Anyways, so I’ve been sitting at the bar in front of the window working on my (awful) International Studies final paper for a few hours, and my eyes and mind are starting to wander. I’ve been staring out the window for about 20 minutes, and in that brief span I’ve encountered some interesting individuals. There was one guy who drove by in his car with one of those old-fashioned pipes. There was another lady carrying one of those tiny little daffodils. I saw what must have been a 107-year old woman parallel park in seriously 6.7098 seconds…impressive.

    Crap, so I really have to get to work. Point of story: this place is FABULOUS and you should check it out if you’re in town. But don’t worry French Press, you’re still number one in my heart.

    Cereal whore?

    T-3 HOURS, 28 MINUTES until I gorge on cereal!!! I gave up cereal for Lent this year, which means I haven’t had cereal since February 26th. And that means it has been 44 days/1056 hours/63,360 minutes/3,801,600 seconds too long. In case you guys couldn’t tell, I love, love, LOVE cereal. I mean, what’s not to love about it? It’s simple, easy to make a bowl, almost always hits the spot, is relatively healthy (as long as you don’t buy those sugar-loaded kiddie ones…okay, okay, I know those are amazing, too), and is just plain AWESOME. And as good as cereals are on their own, mixing two is AMAZING. I love mixing Oat Cluster Cheerios Crunch with Vanilla Almond Special K, and using Vanilla Soy Milk. PARTY. IN. MY. MOUTH!!! Anyways, yeah, so I guess you know what I’ll be eating for breakfast for the next month and a half straight.

    More later…
