Une enquête et l’analyse des résultats

Another rather boring day in the life of Katie.  I had my second to last French class for the semester, which is kind of sad because I love my professor and the girls in my class are so nice.

After class, I had to meet up with three girls from my Sociologie de la Consommation (Sociology of Consumption) class.  We just finished giving a survey on appearances and how they relate to consumption to the students of Sciences Po, which is really interesting in theory.  The students here are generally extremely intelligent and come from wealthy families, so I was expecting to find lavish spending habits and an emphasis on appearance.

Perhaps surprisingly, that’s not what the results showed.  I guess no one, not even Sciences Po students, want to say outright, “Yes, my entire life is based on appearances.”  At the same time, I know they place more of an emphasis on it than the results show, because many girls wear little dresses and heels to class, and the boys are frequently found in dress shirts and sometimes even ties.  It’s a long way from the sweatpants and baggy jeans of BC.  Nonetheless, the actual analysis of the results was tedious and boring, and I’ve been working on it all day.

Kelsey returned from visiting her friend Keavy in Galway, today.  I was pretty jealous that she spent the weekend in one of my favorite cities, but at the same time I loved hearing how much she loved it, too.  Between the two of us and Simeone, we were all in great moods and decided to grab a drink at Pub O’Prince downstairs.  Simone has been there several times and is starting to get to know the bartenders, so it was nice hanging out down there for a little glass of wine.

Like I said, a pretty average day.

Spread the love.

  • The Girl

Hey guys, I'm Katie! Welcome to my blog, where I ramble on about anything and everything. I'm 22 years old, a soon-to-be graduate of Boston College, pursuing a degree in International Studies and a minor in French. I spent last spring studying abroad at Sciences Po in Paris, so most of my entries and extra content consist of stories and photos of my cultural experiences, my passionate love affair with French food, my close encounters of the third wine, and my ramblings about crazy French people. I love photography, traveling, reading, and cooking. I love all kinds of music; check out what I'm listening to at last.fm. I also enjoy a good tweet now and again. Check out some more random facts about me, if you're so inclined...
