Shakespeare & Company

I have fallen head-over-heels, hopelessly in love.  But don’t worry, mom and dad…this passionate romance of mine is with a bookstore called Shakespeare and Company.  The affair began on March 15th, the date which marked my first visit.  I could not stop thinking about this shop for a month, which is exactly why approximately 3 weeks later, I returned with my camera to document my love.

A pretty chandelier and the tops of bookshelves

"Of all the words in tongue & pen, the saddest are these: might've been."

"Be not inhospitable to strangers, les they be angels in disguise." - George Whitman

The book-lined staircase leading to the reading rooms.

The old-fashioned typewriter.

So, in addition to documenting my love for Shakespeare & Co., I also went to the Centre Pompidou today, which contains a modern art collection and several exhibitions.  It was pretty neat, and I’m glad I went, although I’ll always favor Musée d’Orsay and Musée de l’Orangerie.

I’m off to daydream about my bookstore…

Spread the love.

  • The Girl

Hey guys, I'm Katie! Welcome to my blog, where I ramble on about anything and everything. I'm 21 years old, a rising senior at Boston College and am pursuing a major in International Studies and a minor in French. I just returned from studying abroad at Sciences Po in Paris, so most of the entries from the past five months consist of my cultural experiences, my passionate love affair with French food, my close encounters of the third wine, and my ramblings about crazy French people. I love photography, traveling, reading, and cooking. I love all kinds of music; check out what I'm listening to at last.fm. I also enjoy a good tweet now and again. Check out some more random facts about me, if you're so inclined...
