Au revoir, cours magistral!

After much debate, I have officially decided to withdraw from my French lecture!

I’m not sure if I have been blogging about it, but I have been thinking about doing it for several days now.  The class turned out to be really intense, it was difficult to understand the professor, and it was just entirely too stressful for me.

Since Sciences Po doesn’t really have an add/drop period, I knew I couldn’t drop the course without penalty; it would have to be considered a withdrawal.  I e-mailed BC and asked about the consequences of such a decision.  Apparently, I will get a “W” on my transcript, and will have to take 10 classes next year instead of 8.  First off, I’m used to taking 5 classes each semester, as that is what Freshman, Sophomores and Juniors at BC are all required to do.  Second, as I looked through the courses I still need to take for my major and minor, I realized I only have 5 more to complete before I fulfill my requirements.  Therefore, I decided that it would be worth it to take a few extra easy, interesting classes back at BC rather than stress myself out here while I’m abroad.

Good decision?  Definitely.  A weight has been lifted, and I can’t stop smiling.

Spread the love.

Hey guys, I'm Katie! Welcome to my blog, where I ramble on about anything and everything. I'm 22 years old, a soon-to-be graduate of Boston College, pursuing a degree in International Studies and a minor in French. I spent last spring studying abroad at Sciences Po in Paris, so most of my entries and extra content consist of stories and photos of my cultural experiences, my passionate love affair with French food, my close encounters of the third wine, and my ramblings about crazy French people. I love photography, traveling, reading, and cooking. I love all kinds of music; check out what I'm listening to at last.fm. I also enjoy a good tweet now and again. Check out some more random facts about me, if you're so inclined...
