Rant: Space Invaders
So, picture this…you’re on a treadmill. Out of the 15 or so treadmills, there are 14 still available. All are located near the cooling vent, all have mini-TVs, and all have a good view to watch other people working out (if you so desire). You’re just happily enjoying your run, when all of a sudden, some knucklehead comes along and decides to get on a treadmill. Fine. Except, he gets on the treadmill directly next to you. He’s stealing the oxygen you need to continue your run, most likely smells like week-old BO, and his strides are so heavy that it feels like the next big earthquake has hit. One question for the knucklehead: why?! I mean, it’s the same thing in the bathroom with stalls (and urinals, I would assume), or at a row of sinks (or something…?). It’s just annoying. Space invaders simply HAVE to go. Thoughts?
LPGA Sybase Classic
You guys are gonna be so proud of me…I finished adding all of the pictures I took last July! Too bad it’s a year too late, and new July ones will be up before we know it. But yeah, check ‘em out, I added pictures from Mathews’, Brennan’s, Flach’s surprise party, a random beach excursion, Long Beach Island (of course), and also some randoms that didn’t really fit in anywhere else. There’s still 6 folders for me to go through and pick which pics to upload from August…but I don’t really feel like doing that tonight.
Anyway, the golf instructor that I’m working for this summer, Mark, had some extra tickets to see the Sybase Classic at the Upper Montclair Country Club, which was an LPGA event. It was my first golf tournament of any kind, so it was pretty awesome. And it wasn’t too crowded either, so it was easy to follow the first group with Lorena Ochoa, Sophie Gustafson and Teresa Lu. Lorena was just incredible…she’s so tiny, but she hits the ball 240 yards consistently, if not further. And Sophie was a Swedish powerhouse. I wish I could hit the ball like them. Since Annika Sorenstam is retiring this year, she had a pretty large crowd and press coverage following her throughout the match. Overall, just a really fun day.
I was so exhausted after the match because I went to bed late. Ange came over last night after work, and I hadn’t seen her since March, so it was fabulous seeing her and catching up. I did, however, have to take a nap when I got in. I didn’t exactly intend for it to turn into a 3 hour one, though…
No More Error Messages!
Woooo, so I finally got around to fixing up all the PHP on the picture pages! They’re all up and running smoothly once again. Next I’m going to work on adding pictures from last summer, and maybe even throughout the year. I also plan on making a new layout for this little bugger…this one has been up for way too long, and as Irish as I am, I’m kind of tired of the green.
Death Cab for Cutie came out with a new album a week or so ago, and I just got my hands on it today. It’s pretty good, although it kind of reminds me of their older stuff rather than their newer stuff. I’m quickly becoming addicted to the song ‘Your New Twin Sized Bed.’ There’s something kind of haunting about it, and the lyrics are amazing. Here they are for quick reference:
You look so defeated lying there
in your new twin sized bed,
with a single pillow underneath
your single head.
I guess you decided that old queen
was more space than you would need,
and now it’s in the alley
behind your apartment with a sign that says “free.”
But I hope you have more luck with it than me.
You used to think that someone would come along
and lay beside you in the space that they belong.
Other side of the mattress,
the boxsprings stayed like new.
But what’s the point of holding on
to what never gets used,
other than a sick desire for self abuse?
And I tried not to worry,
but she’s got me terrified…
It’s like we’re in some kind of hurry
to say goodbye,
to say goodbye,
to say goodbye.
Yeah, it gives me the chills. Anyway, I do want to write more about college, but now is not the time…it’s 1am, and I’m exhausted (such a wuss, I know). Maybe tomorrow will be the day? We’ll see.
Updates!
I’m gonna update this soon guys (I know, hard to believe, right?)! Where the hell did an entire year go? Did I really just finish a year of college? I kinda sorta miss Kindergarten…
But yeah, check back in a few weeks! I promise the picture pages won’t be a mess after I fix them…some coding went wrong. But yeah, til then, xo!
