About Katie

Hi, I'm Katie! Welcome to my blog, where I ramble about anything and everything. I'm 20 years old, a junior at Boston College and am pursuing a major in International Studies and a minor in French. I'm currently studying abroad at Sciences Po in Paris. I plan on keeping this experience well-documented by blogging every single day, even if my entries consist of only a few new words I learned, or a new picture I took. I love photography, traveling, reading, and cooking. I love all kinds of music; check out what I'm listening to at last.fm. Check out some more random facts about me, if you're so inclined...

    Belle & Sebastian

Hi there. I haven’t written in a while and I felt the urge to do so while I wait for my mom to finish making chicken parm (mmmm).

I had quite an exciting (and exhausting) 4th of July yesterday. Doug and I went into the city early in the afternoon and we met up with his cousin Chris and his girlfriend Diana for the Belle and Sebastian Concert. We set up my blanket towards the right of the lawn at Battery Park and we had a nice view of the stage. Martha Wainwright (Rufus Wainwright’s sister) opened, and she was pretty good. I had never heard her before yesterday, but I think I’m interested in buying the CD if it’s not too expensive (I have zero dollars). It rained, thundered and lightning-ed a bit before Belle and Sebastian actually came on, but luckily it cleared up quite nicely. I have to say, they put on a great show. I love how they involved the crowd…the lead singer had a girl put mascara on him after making the remark that the “goth” look never goes out (I wish I could disagree). And yeah, they brought some girl up on stage to act out a song. It was a lot of fun. Afterwards, Doug and I got some pizza from a rather unsanitary pizza place (there was no soap in the employee bathroom) and then went to his uncle’s apartment to watch the fireworks. Unfortunately, the door leading up to the roof was locked so we couldn’t get the best view of the fireworks, but we had a pretty awesome view from the bedroom window anyways, and opened them up to get the best sound effects. It was really nice, I definitely want to see the city fireworks again.

I finally read The DaVinci Code by Dan Brown a couple of days ago! After reading Angels and Demons, I realized how similar the two books were…almost the exact same plot except with different secret societies and different characters (save for Langdon). Oh well, I read a couple of other shitty teenybopper books in between the two Dan Brown books, so I still was able to enjoy The DaVinci Code.

    Woohoo, dinner’s ready…chicken parm here I come!

PS I owe Ange and Alex an abundance of my chocolate chip cookies because they are nice and leave me comments : )
