About Katie

Hi, I'm Katie! Welcome to my blog, where I ramble about anything and everything. I'm 20 years old, a junior at Boston College and am pursuing a major in International Studies and a minor in French. I'm currently studying abroad at Sciences Po in Paris. I plan on keeping this experience well-documented by blogging every single day, even if my entries consist of only a few new words I learned, or a new picture I took. I love photography, traveling, reading, and cooking. I love all kinds of music; check out what I'm listening to at last.fm. Check out some more random facts about me, if you're so inclined...

    Fireworks

So, last night I went to the fireworks with everyone! It was quite an enjoyable evening even though it took 20 minutes for me to walk from Ange’s car all the way to the fields haha. I’m getting good with my air cast. I took a lot of pictures of everyone and a few of the fireworks themselves sooooo check it out and let me know what you think. A few of us went to DQ after. I decided that ice cream is a great idea until after you eat it…then you realize that you always eat too much and feel sick. Blahhh.

I’m going to see Belle & Sebastian with Doug on July 4th. I’m excited, I’ve never seen a concert with any other band except Dave Matthews, so it should be a great experience. We’re watching the fireworks from his uncle’s rooftop in the city afterwards too, so that’s gonna be amazing. I’ve never seen the city fireworks before.

I’m exhausted from doing absolutely nothing all day so I’m gonna go to bed. Goodnight.

    Senior Graduation Day

Guess what! I have an absolutely amazing friend and her name is Angela! She surprised me today by dropping by with a bag of Flipz (those chocolate covered pretzels) and gummi worms! I love her to deathhh, she certainly made my ankle a bit better by coming over and keeping me company.

Sooo, today all my senior friends graduated. They’re officially done with the high school chapter of their lives (wow if that didn’t sound corny, I don’t know what does) and waiting to go to college. It’s kind of sad thinking about how they won’t be here next year…butttt at least I know they’ll be back to visit : ) One good thing about graduation: parties! Everyone was having graduation parties to celebrate. I went to both Joe’s houses…played a rousing game of bull shit at the first and then ate a lot of delicious pineapple at the second. I also took some pictures at Joe Mosk’s house, so check those out when ya get the chance.

I get my Bio SAT II scores technically today (the 26th). But not for another 7 hours or so. I think I did pretty well on it, it was a lot easier than the AP. But I don’t really want to talk about school, it’s just depressing thinking about it.

I’m gonna go to bed, I’m surprisingly tired after being up for 12 hours (yes, I got up at 12 today haha I’m a lazy bum, what can I say?). By the way, everyone go to the fireworks tomorrow night!! It’ll be a party. I might even bake cookies. Yahoooooooo!! Goodnight : )

    New Summer Layout!

So, it wasn’t long before I decided I needed to start rambling about my life again. So here’s the blog, back in action : ) In case you haven’t noticed, I gave the site a new look…I think a snowflake layout in June is just a tad bit outdated, don’t ya think? So instead, I decided to use a photograph I took in Giverny in Paris of some little pink flowers and try some photoshop effects on them, and I ended up with a layout like this. I also added some of my new photographs (the artistic kind, I guess you could call them), from various places like Paris and Relay for Life. So check them out and let me know what you think.

Anywho, I’m sitting here with my sprained ankle. Last night, I was helping out at a 5th grade graduation party and I decided to play volleyball with a few of the kids. Everything was going fine until one of the little devils decides to jump up when I jumped up at the net…bad idea. I tried to move out of the way so I wouldn’t crush him when I landed, but my feet and ankles didn’t like the idea very much and my left ankle decided to give out on me. Soooo I felt it go a way it shouldn’t go, and then I proceeded to fall to the ground. I got up and hobbled over to a bench and decided it was definitely sprained, and asked Ange and Beth to get me some ice. After about half an hour my mom came and we went to the ER to get x-rays and whatnot. Sure enough, it wasn’t broken or fractured, and it was just a sprain. I got a cool splint and I was told to take a lot of advil, stay off of it for a while, and keep it elevated. I also got a nice pair of crutches to hobble around in when I feel like walking. Cool, eh? NOT REALLY. I’m actually bored out of my mind, which is partly the reason I decided to update my site for a change, and to add a blog again. And I’m kinda even more bored because I know I was supposed to visit UPenn and Georgetown this weekend, and yet, here I am sitting here, twiddling my thumbs and wishing I wasn’t here…

Oh well, I guess I really can’t complain…it’s not like I’m missing anything outside (the weather is supposed to be extremely crappy) or any major trips (like LBI). Plus school’s over so I have no work to do (finally!). It is kind of depressing knowing that I already have my history textbook for next year, 2 history essay assignments, a million books to read for English, and of course a calc assignment due the first day of school. I guess I’ll leave all that until mmmmm, say August 30?

Random blurb: my boyfriend is cool. He brings me frappucinos and visits me even though I have dirty, broken feet. : )

I started reading another book today, called The Rum Diary by Hunter S. Thompson. It’s pretty good so far…kind of twisted actually. It’s about this journalist who goes to Puerto Rico in the ’50s before it’s a real tourist hotspot and he learns about life and everything. A lot of rum is involved. Hence the title. So yeah, it’s pretty good. My brother threw it at me last night when I hobbled in on my crutches. I read Angels and Demons by Dan Brown last week. Now that was an absolutely amazing book. I honestly read it in a matter of two days, and its over 450 pages. I couldn’t put it down! I can’t wait to read Da Vinci Code, but I decided I didn’t want to kill the murder mystery mood, and to read a few books in between. I think I might start reading it sometime this coming week.

Graduation is tomorrow…I’m gonna miss all of my friends after they go off to college in August : ( They are cool people.

Alright, I guess I’m gonna try to go to bed even though I’m wide awake. It’s 2:10 a.m. but I don’t feel the least bit tired. After all, I haven’t moved further than the bathroom down the hall all day because I don’t feel like conquering the stairs just yet. With my luck I’ll fall and actually break my ankle this time haha. Goodnighttttt.

PS leave me comments and I’ll bake you cookies ; )
